ECProbe

Inspect game globals, tables and UI frames to investigate the addon API.

Developer toolsMaintainer: Hearts47

What is it useful for?

ECProbe is a diagnostic tool for addon developers. It exposes the names and contents of game globals and UI frames so an author can investigate which data is available before building a feature.

Get started after installation

Install the addon using its current repository instructions first. These steps follow the author’s documentation; check for changed commands or UI after an update.

  1. Place the ECProbe folder in the game’s AddOns directory, restart, and enter a run; the author says its commands work during gameplay.
  2. Use /ecprobe azs to list global names containing azs, then /ecdump AZS_RUN to inspect the run table.
  3. Use /ecframe BenillaOptionsFrame to inspect that named frame’s dimensions, anchors, children and scripts.
  4. Click the output text, press Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C to copy it for investigation.
  5. For UI-message investigation, use /ecsniff start, then /ecsniff show to see message types and examples, and /ecsniff stop to end tracing.

Useful tips & limitations

A developer diagnostic tool. Ordinary players do not need it to install or use the other addons.

  • Table dumps are limited to three levels and 800 lines. Missing deeper detail may be a dump limit rather than absent game data.
  • /ecdump calls only the documented AZS_Get*, AZS_Is* and AZS_Gear function families, without arguments.
  • Results are also recorded in ECProbeDB when the game exits. This is a developer workflow, not a requirement for installing other addons.

If a game update causes a problem, disable the most recently added addon and report the game version, addon version and exact error to its author.
