Luck improves your chance of rarer upgrade cards. The game’s Run Stats panel describes it as “Better odds of rarer upgrades when you level up.” It does not add damage or health by itself.

What the game says Luck does

The in-run Run Stats panel lists Luck as a percentage, with the line “Better odds of rarer upgrades when you level up.” More Luck means better odds that a level-up offers a rarer upgrade.

The game does not show a formula. We have not measured how much each percent of Luck changes the odds, so we do not give a value per point.

X is the value shown in the tooltip; it depends on the talent rank or item. The Gnome trait is the only fixed number in the data: +20% luck.

Is Luck worth taking?

Luck helps over the whole run, because every level-up is a new chance at a rarer card. It does nothing for the fight in front of you right now. If you are struggling to survive, a damage, health or cooldown upgrade may help more.

Players disagree. In his Arcane Mage and Warlock recordings, Holdherhand favours a luck trinket, but he also names critical damage or double cast as alternatives. See the Arcane Mage guide. These are player choices, not measured results.

Check your own Luck

Open Run Stats during a run to see your current Luck. Compare it before and after you take a luck talent or trinket. For the card choices themselves, read spell slots and upgrades.
