The current Demonology tree builds an army around a permanent Imp, a Felhunter, Legion Gate and a Felguard. This starter chooses Soul Devourer and Butcher. It keeps health and damage-reduction talents in the route because Warlock starts with 165 base health.

A 31-point route to Butcher

Use this as a suggested spending order and confirm each node is available in your game. Legion Gate references both exclusive companion choices in the stored data; its precise gate logic was not established by this check. Repeated names add their remaining ranks when a later row needs more points. Stop at your current budget; the early Imp and health ranks still have a purpose before the full route is available.

Spell priorities that support the demons

  • Immolate: Demonic Familiar's Imp Firebolts also strike enemies burning with your Immolate.
  • Corruption: Legion Gate's succubi can stun Corrupted enemies.
  • Demonic Empowerment: compare its current card to improve your demon damage.
  • Shadow Bolt: the normal starting spell remains useful while you wait for the supporting offers.

Summoned demons come from talents, so the names in the talent tree are not a shopping list of level-up spell cards. Read each card before using a slot. Add survivability when needed instead of waiting indefinitely for the ideal offer.

Keep these alternatives separate

Soul Devourer and Soul Link rule each other out. This route uses the Felhunter from Soul Devourer. Soul Link is the separate Voidwalker shield route. Butcher and Pact of the Annihilan are exclusive capstones: choose the Felguard here; change to the Pit Lord only after reading its Searing Pain interaction.

Demonic Supremacy makes Infernal and Doomguard permanent and prevents lesser demons. It therefore changes the purpose of the army route above. Do not add it just because it is an unspent node near Legion Gate.

Health, cooldowns and current items

Equip class gear in the Armory before the run. Compare maximum health and damage reduction when the hero is dying, then demon damage and cooldown effects when survival is steady. Read rings and trinkets separately from class gear and necklace effects.

Older Demonology advice may describe different summons, lifetimes and talent names. The current talent reference takes precedence over a historical recording for what a node does.

Check the plan in your own run

Record the zone, talent ranks, permanent gear and difficulty settings when comparing attempts. A smaller health pool means you still need to move around dangerous attacks while demons fight. For a party, use the co-op setup guide and compare the current game's party prompts.

Questions

Can I combine Butcher and Pact of the Annihilan?

No. The current descriptions mark them as exclusive capstones. This starter chooses Butcher.

Should I add Demonic Supremacy to a Legion Gate build?

Read the tradeoff first: Demonic Supremacy makes Infernal and Doomguard permanent but prevents lesser demons, changing the army route described here.

Sources & scope

An editorial 31-point route checked against v0.115.0 talent rows, rank limits and single-node prerequisite references. Legion Gate links to both exclusive companion choices in the data; this pass did not establish the precise gate logic, so confirm the current in-game tooltip before spending. Spell interactions are from current descriptions. We have not reproduced its run performance or compared its damage with Affliction or Destruction.
