To check whether you can afford a cache in Azeroth Survivors, compare your current gold with the number beside "Cache" on the HUD. Keep the results screen's gold-earned total separate: it records income during the run, while your wallet shows what you have at that moment.
The examples here come from two recordings of the original game, both showing v0.77.6 (7cdc75fb). The live game's menu showed v0.95.0 (3ab42ec2) when checked on October 17, 2026. Cache prices in that newer build have not been checked.
Read the gold counters
- Current gold is the amount in your wallet at the observed moment.
- The Cache number is the displayed cost to compare against that wallet.
- Gold earned on the results screen is cumulative income for the run.
- Caches opened is a separate count of openings recorded in the results.
For example, at 21:22 in Windowtismm's Warlock recording, the victory screen reports 1,672 gold earned and 10 caches opened. The visible wallet is 320 and the Cache number is 470. The 1,672 total does not mean the character has 1,672 gold available to spend. At that moment, the displayed cost exceeds the wallet by 150 gold.
One recorded cache opening: 358 gold
Goerson's Mage recording shows a cache opening between three closely spaced observations:
- At 30:31 (game timer 26:05), the HUD shows Gold 362 and Cache 358. A chest is in front of the character.
- At 30:36 (game timer 26:08), the Battleground Cache treasure screen offers three rewards: Quick Strike Ring IV, Medallion of Steadfast Might and Master Dragonslayer's Ring II.
- At 30:51 (game timer 26:21), the HUD shows Gold 4 and Cache 470.
The wallet falls from 362 to 4, a difference of exactly 358 gold. In this recorded run, opening the cache cost 358 gold; the HUD then showed 470 for the next cache. This confirms how to read the Cache number in this sequence, without establishing a general pricing formula.
Recorded cache prices in v0.77.6
Each timestamp below is a position in the YouTube video. Video time and the in-game timer are different.
| Recording and video time | Run state | Current gold | Cache cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warlock 0:10 | Level 1; game timer 00:04 | 0 | 20 |
| Warlock 6:25 | Level 14; game timer 04:29 | 113 | 63 |
| Warlock 21:22 | Level 28; Duskwood victory; 10 caches opened | 320 | 470 |
| Mage 16:27 | Level 19; game timer 12:46 | 17 | 272 |
| Mage 23:01 | Level 22; game timer 18:44 | 9 | 358 |
| Mage 28:20 | Level 23; continuing in endless | 31 | 358 |
| Mage 32:41 | Level 23; still in endless | 10 | 470 |
The Warlock's 6:25 observation has enough gold to meet the displayed cost: 113 against 63. The Mage's 16:27 observation has 17 against 272, a shortfall of 255. Those comparisons establish affordability at the recorded moments; they do not establish whether buying immediately was a good choice.
Does character level set the price?
Character level alone cannot account for all the observed prices. Goerson's Mage is level 23 at both 28:20 and 32:41, but the Cache display changes from 358 to 470. Earlier, the display reads 358 at both the level-22 observation at 23:01 and the level-23 observation at 28:20.
The Mage's results show nine caches opened at the 27:59 Warsong Gulch victory and ten at the 32:51 endless defeat. The opening at 30:36 occurs between those results screens. It gives a directly observed example of spending gold on a cache and then seeing a higher next price.
The recording does not establish a per-level multiplier, a fixed percentage of your wallet or a complete purchase-by-purchase price sequence. It also cannot tell you whether buying early is more efficient than saving.
Check your next cache
- Read your current wallet and the Cache cost together. If your wallet is lower, subtract it from the displayed cost to find the immediate shortfall.
- Check the HUD again when you are ready to spend. A price remembered from an earlier point in the run may have changed.
- When comparing runs or reporting a price change, record the game build, character level, wallet, displayed cost and caches-opened count where visible. A screenshot before and after an opening is more useful for checking its effect than two distant moments in a run.
Use your own game's displayed price for a spending decision. The v0.77.6 values above are historical observations, and the v0.95.0 menu check did not include a new run or a cache purchase.
Sources & scope
Key frames in both YouTube recordings were visually inspected in Chrome on October 17, 2026. Their opening screens show v0.77.6 (7cdc75fb); the recording platform was not established. The Mage cache sequence was checked at 30:31, 30:36 and 30:51: Gold 362 / Cache 358, a Battleground Cache reward screen, then Gold 4 / Cache 470. The level-23 Gold 31 / Cache 358 frame was rechecked at 28:20. No spoken commentary is quoted. The current original-game menu showed v0.95.0 (3ab42ec2), but no new run or cache-price test was performed. These observations establish one recorded opening cost, not a general price formula, an optimal purchase time or current-build prices. Source publication dates are omitted because displayed dates differed between checks.
